Behind the Scenes: Two Bathroom Renovations in Eagle Vail

Renovations are always exciting to me because they’re about more than updating a space—they’re a chance to make rooms more functional and personal, especially bathrooms and kitchens.

Recently, I had the opportunity to work on two bathroom renovations in Eagle Vail, Colorado. My client wanted spaces that felt more aligned with her lifestyle. Both bathrooms were dated and lacking in functionality, so together we began reimagining them. Over the past few weeks, we’ve shaped these rooms step by step—from sketches and mood boards to material selections and construction details.

My Role as a Designer

For this project, I worked closely with my client to:

  • Select materials and finishes

  • Create floor plans, mood boards, and 3D visualizations

  • Prepare a full design package to guide the renovation

  • Support during construction by answering questions and troubleshooting details

The Design Process

1. Setting the Vision
The process began with my client sharing dimensions, photos, videos, and a detailed brief outlining her goals, budget, and timeline. From there, I created mood boards to set the tone for each bathroom.

The primary bathroom leans into a warm, monochromatic palette with black hardware for contrast.
The secondary bathroom builds on a neutral foundation but introduces a green accent wall for a fresh pop of color, paired with black finishes.

Every material was chosen with simplicity, timelessness, and quality in mind. To keep the project budget-friendly, we repeated some finishes across both bathrooms, while still giving each one its own personality.

For the Primary Bathroom: a warm, monochromatic palette with black hardware for contrast.

For the Secondary Bathroom: a neutral foundation, highlighted by a green accent wall and black finishes.

3. Material Selection
Once the vision and budget were approved, we met at the tile shop to finalize every detail—trim pieces, marble pencils for the shower niche and bench, grout, caulking, and more. Seeing materials in person is such an important step. Colors, textures, and finishes can look very different than they do online or in a sample book, so I always encourage clients to look at everything together and bring home samples before making the final call.

4. The Design Package
After the materials were selected, I pulled everything together into a complete design package with floor plans, elevations, and 3D renderings. These visuals not only help clients imagine how the space will come together but also give the contractor clear direction—avoiding confusion or second-guessing during construction. Alongside the renderings, I include detailed documentation, like material specifications and a shopping list, so the renovation can move forward smoothly and with confidence.

Here’s a peek at the design package I prepare for clients—shared here in a simplified version for the blog.

Construction & Progress

Once demo began and materials arrived on site, I stayed connected with the client to answer design-related questions and guide decisions as the project progressed. Along the way, we made small but meaningful changes—like adjusting the shower niche height, solving construction details, and fine-tuning paint colors.

Here are a few pictures from the Primary Bathroom during construction.

And here’s a peek at the Secondary Bathroom in progress.

Even though the photos don’t capture every detail, I love seeing the progress as these bathrooms come together. If you’re curious about the design process or thinking about starting your own renovation, I’d love to hear from you—let’s start a conversation.
